Why K'neCt?

Our church is named "The King's Church" to reflect our desire that the church would be run by Jesus Christ.

The "K'neCt" logo symbolises the way that our various activities of the church provide opportunities to connect to:

  • "K" - "The King"
  • "C" - "Community" (of believers)
  • "net" – Those outside the church family
"The King"

The Bible reveals Jesus to be 'The King of Kings and Lord of Lords' and therefore we acknowledge Him as our Lord and Master. If these words are not ones that you hear regularly, then perhaps "Forgiver and Leader" would be an appropriate alternative. We worship Him in our public meetings, talk to Him in private through prayer, read about Him in The Bible and honour Him in our daily lives.

"Community"

The Christian Church is not about buildings but about people, which The Bible refers to as living stones which are being built up into a spiritual house. The Bible tells us that we are not meant to live the Christian life in isolation but to join together with other Christians to become a community where we enjoy fellowship, encouragement and support. The Bible also talks in terms of us being a family. While we gather together every Sunday to worship God in our public meetings, we believe that deeper relationships are formed in smaller groups where individuals get to know each other to a greater level and open up to each other in terms of support and care.

"net"

Amongst the last words that Jesus spoke before He ascended into heaven is what is commonly referred to as the "Great Commission". This is where Jesus instructed us to go into all the world and make disciples. As many of Jesus' disciples were fishermen, he used fishing terminology to talk about reaching out to those outside the family of God. Therefore we use the term "net" to represent the kind of activities and events that help us do this. These include Barn Dances, Ceilidhs, family days out and other events.

The "K'neCt" concept covers all aspects of church life ranging from major "K'nect Events" like our public meetings, Healing Hours and 'Word & Spirit' meetings to our newly implemented "K'neCt groups" which we believe to be a radical new approach to church small groups.

The content of our groups can be categorised as either "Spiritual Development", "Personal development", or "Activity Based". For example, as well as groups such as prayer, Bible Study and fellowship, we also offer seasonal groups involving basic piano / keyboard skills, golf or walking. Our K'neCt groups have a defined lifecycle and at the end of this the members gather back together for some central meetings which are used to regenerate a new season of groups again for a defined period.
